3.5M Telescopic Window Cleaning Kit – Washer Head and Squeegee Blade
Upstairs Windows, Ground Level
Most households have windows that never get properly cleaned because reaching them safely is too much effort. A ladder on uneven ground outside, leaning out of an upstairs window to reach the corners, or paying someone else to do it a few times a year. None of those are ideal. This kit reaches 3.5 metres fully extended — enough to clean first and second floor windows from the ground without stepping off a flat surface at any point.
The kit includes both tools you actually need. The soft washer head soaks the glass and shifts the dirt. The rubber squeegee blade follows and pulls the water off cleanly without leaving streaks. Both attach to the same telescopic pole, which collapses down to a fraction of its full length for storage in a cupboard, utility room or garage.
What Is in the Kit
Telescopic pole — extends to 3.5 metres fully open, approximately 10 feet. Multiple locking sections allow you to set the length anywhere between minimum and maximum depending on the window height you are working on. Orange and black finish with grip sections at the locking points for secure handling at full extension
Soft washer head — wide white fleece or microfibre wash head attaches to the top of the pole for the first pass across the glass. The soft pad picks up surface dirt, grime, bird marks and general outdoor soiling without scratching the glass. Width covers a large area of glass per stroke
Rubber squeegee blade — attaches in place of the washer head for the finishing pass. The rubber blade pulls water and loosened dirt cleanly down the glass in a single stroke, leaving the surface clear without smearing
Design and Build
Three-section telescopic pole with screw or push-lock collars at each joint — extend one section at a time and lock each point before extending the next, giving a stable rigid pole at the working length rather than a flexible one that bends under the weight of the head
Full 3.5 metre reach covers ground floor windows from a standing position, first floor windows from ground level in most standard UK house builds, and conservatory roof sections from outside
Both the washer head and squeegee blade attach to the same pole fitting — unscrew one, screw on the other, no additional adaptor or tool needed to switch between them mid-job
Collapsed storage length is a fraction of the full 3.5 metres — stores upright in a utility cupboard, lean-to, garage or along a wall without taking up significant space
Orange pole sections are visible against most backgrounds which makes it easier to check alignment and extension when working at full height
In Use
Fill a bucket with warm water and window cleaning solution before you start — the washer head needs to be dipped and wrung before each pass rather than running from a hose, so having the bucket at your feet keeps the process moving
Extend the pole to the length needed for the window you are working on — locking it shorter than full extension gives better control for lower windows where full length would be unwieldy
Wet the washer head and work across the glass in overlapping horizontal strokes, starting at the top — this loosens and lifts the soiling across the full pane before the squeegee pass
Switch to the squeegee blade and pull down in straight overlapping vertical strokes from the top of the glass — wipe the blade on a cloth between each pull to stop dirty water being dragged back across clean glass
One wash pass and two or three squeegee pulls is usually enough for most outdoor windows that are cleaned every few weeks — windows that have not been touched for months may need a second wash pass before squeegee finishing
Where This Gets Used
Upstairs exterior windows on two-storey houses — the most common reason people buy a pole this length, reaching first floor glass without a ladder from outside
Conservatory roof glazing — pitched glass panels that collect green algae, dust and leaf debris and are impossible to reach safely without a long pole from ground level
Ground floor windows on larger properties and commercial buildings where the window height from the ground is greater than standard domestic
Caravans and motorhomes parked on site — the roof windows and high side panels that a short brush cannot reach without climbing on the vehicle
Solar panels — a soft washer head on a long pole is the recommended cleaning method for domestic solar panels, removing surface dirt that reduces output without scratching the panel surface
Practical Notes
Always lock every pole section firmly before applying pressure — a section that is not fully locked will release under sideways load and the pole will fold at that point, potentially dropping the head onto the glass or onto you
Work with the pole at a slight angle rather than perfectly vertical when squeegeeing — this lets the water run to one side rather than dripping straight back down the wet section you have just cleaned
Rinse both the washer head and squeegee blade thoroughly after each use — dried detergent in the washer fibres reduces absorbency over time, and residue on the squeegee blade causes it to drag and smear rather than glide
Store the pole collapsed and dry — metal sections stored damp in a closed cupboard will eventually corrode at the joints and make extending and collapsing harder over time
The pole is designed for window cleaning loads — do not use it for tasks that put heavy lateral stress on the joints such as pushing or levering
What Is Included
1 × Telescopic pole — extends to 3.5 metres fully, multiple locking sections
1 × Soft washer head — wide fleece wash pad, screws onto pole
