The Right Tool for Every Angle

Anyone who has spent twenty minutes trying to get an O-ring out with a screwdriver already knows how that ends. The screwdriver slips, scratches the seat, tears the ring, and you're left with a damaged component and a job that now takes longer than it should have. It's not a skill issue — it's a tool issue. A screwdriver tip is the wrong shape for that job, and no amount of patience or careful technique changes that.

This four-piece set gives you four tip profiles, each shaped for a different access angle. Between them they cover every removal situation you're likely to run into on a car, in a hydraulic system, or on any mechanical assembly with seals, O-rings, circlips, or split pins sitting in recesses that aren't easy to reach. Steel shafts, bi-material grips, and four distinct shapes — one set that does what a drawer full of improvised tools never quite manages.

Why Four Shapes and Not Just One

The straight pick is the obvious one — long, sharp, and useful for anything you can approach directly. Port access, lifting under a ring from the front, piercing a gasket to get it moving. It does that well, but the moment something is tucked behind a pipe or sitting in a channel with a housing wall in the way, it can't follow.

That's where the angled hook comes in. The tip curves away from the shaft, which lets you reach around obstacles and get behind components that a straight pick can't touch. It's the one you reach for when you can see the O-ring but can't get to it from a straight line.

The full hook is deeper and more rounded — designed to drop into a circular groove and sweep a seal or circlip out in one movement. Rather than poking and prying at individual points around the ring, the full hook gets underneath it and levers the whole thing clear at once. Faster, cleaner, and far less likely to tear the seal or nick the groove it was sitting in.

The 90-degree pick is for everything else. The tip is bent to a right angle, which means it reaches into corners, blind spots, and right-angle recesses where none of the other three can get a purchase. In an engine bay or gearbox where components are stacked tightly and access is rarely straightforward, this is the one that gets used when everything else has already been tried.

Using the wrong profile damages seats and tears components. Using the right one takes thirty seconds.

Built to Work With Greasy Hands

The bi-material grip matters more on these tools than it would on, say, a hammer. When you're working on an engine or a hydraulic system, your hands are usually contaminated — oil, grease, brake fluid, or some combination of all three. A smooth plastic handle becomes dangerous in those conditions. The red and black bi-material grip on each pick uses a softer outer layer over a rigid inner core, which gives the surface enough texture and compliance that your hand stays in position even when you're applying sideways pressure to lever a component out.

The hardened steel shafts hold their tip shape under real working loads. These aren't thin decorative picks — they're built to take the levering force needed to free a seized O-ring or a stuck circlip without the tip bending or the shaft flexing under pressure.

What the Set Covers in Practice

O-ring removal and replacement on any access angle. Seal and gasket extraction without groove damage. Split pin and circlip removal from blind or right-angle recesses. Bush and bearing work. Engine and gearbox servicing. Hydraulic and brake system maintenance. Clutch component removal. General mechanical and engineering tasks where the component is small, the space is tight, and the wrong approach costs you time and parts.

Four tools, four shapes, one job done right the first time rather than worked around with whatever was closest to hand.
