This 10-inch magnetic scaffold level — also known as a torpedo level — hits the right balance between compact enough to slip into a jacket pocket and capable enough to give you an accurate reading on any job.

At 250mm (10 inches) in length, it's shorter than a standard box section level but still long enough to give you a reliable horizontal or vertical reading across most surfaces. The body is moulded in a bright yellow high-visibility finish that's easy to spot on a cluttered workbench or site floor, and the grip profile makes it comfortable to hold in one hand while the other is occupied.

There are two vials — one horizontal for checking flat surfaces and one 90° vial set in a circular housing on the side for checking vertical plumb. Both are clearly visible and easy to read, with the bubble sitting accurately within marked lines when the surface is true. The magnetic base is built into the underside of the level, which means it locks onto steel scaffold poles, RSJs, metal studs, and other ferrous surfaces without you needing to hold it — genuinely useful when you need both hands free to make an adjustment.

The build is solid without being unnecessarily heavy, and the profile is slim enough to work in spaces where a full-length level simply won't fit.
